Bernadette Hing - Underdog Basketball Founder
‘My passion to provide quality basketball opportunities for the youth in my East Auckland community started over a decade ago when my kids wanted to play basketball. This grew from coaching one school team into running a successful local basketball club and league for an entire community and being the basketball ‘go to’ place to help others succeed in their basketball journey.
Having been involved in many aspects of club, school, representative and national basketball programs and overcoming personal challenges along the way, with the strong support of my family and community, I feel that now is the time to create something special!
The people in my community hold a special place in my heart and I love how genuinely friendly and supportive they always are. I am constantly in awe of where this journey has taken me and the opportunities it has given myself, my own family and my basketball family.
To see this vision grow from one seed to a whole plantation is amazing!

Always there whenever they are needed, you will see them out coaching, refereeing, helping on the score bench and generally providing support to anyone in need. Having been through representative programs as players and/or coaches and involved with community basketball, enables Underdog Basketball to build a strong foundation and instill values to our players.
